I often would like to ask mathematical coding questions in pairs. The first is a code-golf question. That is what is the shortest code that computes a given function? The other is at the other extreme and is a fastest-code question. That is what is the fastest code you can write to compute some function? Take these two examples:

It was suggested that this might not be approved of as they are in some way duplicates. In my view the answers will be completely different so this sort of question pair is not a duplicate at all.

What is the consensus view on this topic?
